AIM:
To introduce spelling strategies to staff who regularly need to write notes and letters, and who want to improve the accuracy of their spelling.
OBJECTIVES:
After the training, attendees should:
- Feel more confident writing notes and letters, both at work and at home.
- Be able to decide for themselves whether to follow the advice of the spell check function on the computer.
MAIN COURSE CONTENT:
- Commonly mis-spelled words
- Tricky words in everyday use e.g. accommodation; their and there; stationery and stationary (which is which?)
- Ways of remembering correct spelling
- Overcoming mental blocks with spelling
- When to use, and when to ignore the advice of the “spell check” function on your computer!
