SCOLA aims to provide an educational experience of high quality with information about courses, access and support clearly identified in the Student Charter set out below.
Learner Entitlements - Student Charter
Information
You will be entitled to:- Free and accurate information on course/training available and any entry requirements;
- Free prospectus of courses published 3 times a year and information posted on the SCOLA Web-site;
- Course Details Forms issued on request;
- Access to any reports from inspectors on our provision;
- Information on and access to qualifications offered by the College;
- Advice on funding your chosen course or route;
- Clear information on the way your course or training will be organised, to include attendance times, holidays, payment of fees, and what to do if you cannot attend or have an accident or wish to make a complaint;
- Access to information about progression routes after your course ends;
- Access to College policy documents;
- Information about disabled access and facilities;
- Induction when you first attend your course
Quality Training Education Experience and Assessment
You will be entitled to:- Have individual needs assessed and basic needs identified;
- Equality of opportunity in all aspects of your learning experience;
- Quality teaching from appropriately qualified tutors whose work is observed and supported;
- Additional help and support with any literacy, numeracy or other special needs identified;
- Learn in a safe environment;
- A final feedback when you complete your programme describing how you have performed and what you have achieved;
- Opportunities for progression explained simply;
- Have any course work marked (practical and written) and feedback given within agreed time-scales;
- Free and impartial course, education and training advice via the SCOLA IAG service.
Continuous Improvement
You will be entitled to:- Opportunities to give structured feedback on the way in which your course is developing;
- Have any complaints handled quickly and sympathetically via the College Complaints Procedure;
- Have any suggestions or comments you wish to make for the improvement of the service listened to via the 'Listening to You' programme of activities
Learner Responsibilities
You will be entitled to:- Show a commitment to attend and study regularly;
- Notify your tutor if you are going to be absent;
- Sign a Learning Agreement;
- Engage in the learning process actively for your own self-development, and, if applicable, employability;
- Take care of and respect equipment, materials and buildings;
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations;
- Behave responsibly, safely, and not to use any language that will give offence to others;
- Take notice of SCOLA policies, including Racial Harassment and Equal Opportunities;
- Participate in feedback and review sessions and complete evaluation forms and college documentation as requested;
- Switch off mobile phones and pagers during lessons and presentations;
- Not smoke in any SCOLA premises;
- Not copy any work files, text or ICT programmes covered by copyright.
